All the members of the US House of Representatives are up for re-election in 2012. How many of these people do we want to bring back? Who has done anything that they campaigned on last year? Who has gone against what they campaigned on?
I see people who say that we need to get rid of all the people in Congress, House or Senate. I don't think that we do, but that we do need to pay attention to what is being done there, and who is doing what.
I think that most of us rely on news people and journalists to tell us what is happening, and I think most of them are lying to us. Some with large lies and some with small ones. But they are still lies and misrepresentations. IMO, they need to stop and the only way to do that is to call them on it when it happens.
How many of us actually look up what the subject is? Or go to the Library of Congress database (thomas.loc.gov) to see what the actual bills are, and who is supporting them. From what I've been reading online, not very many of us. And, IMO, a lot of us are dead wrong about what our beliefs of what is happening are.
From that one website, you can find out what every Congressman has introduced or sponsored. You can find out how they voted, and on what. You can find out about past Congress's, and what they did and didn't do. You can even find out about the Continental Congress. Or find out who represents you in both houses.
It bothers me, a lot, that so many people are clueless as to what is being decided for our country. And who is doing the deciding.
So, what I'm going to do is post some of those people and bills, with links if possible, so that I can sort it out in my head, and can, hopefully, help some of you out in the blogisphere. (I know that's not a real word, but it sounds nice, doesn't it?
Please, let me know if I have helped, or if I am wrong with a fact. Do it nicely, please. There is already far too much hate out there. We need to find a way to stop it.
